British Virgin Islands (BVI) Information

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) are a British dependency located in the Eastern Caribbean, about 60 miles East of Puerto Rico. English is the official language and the official currency is the United States Dollar.

It became self governing in 1967 and has a democratically elected Legislative Council. The Government is stable and promises to remain that way.

The legal system is based on the English Common Law. The Territorial Government appoints the judiciary. The ultimate appellate court is the Privy Council in London.
